Summer Schools

In the summer of 2010 Maastricht University will host two exciting Summer Schools that allow ambitious students (preferably 3rd year BSc students) to learn about entrepreneurship.

Reknown for its excellence in education, Maastricht University provides an unique environment for to nurture entrepreneurship. Our "Problem Based Learning" teaching philisophy is based on the curiosity and enterprising attitude of our predominantly international student body.

Perhaps through self-election, or through PBL, many of our students want to stay in control of their self-development in their professional lives. Obviously, entrepreneurship, or at least an entrepreneurial role in an established organization, is the ultimate environment where a  self-directed career path can materialise.

Last year we launched our first Summer School in collaboration with ABN-AMRO Bank. ABN-AMRO had already organised Entrepreneurship Summer Schools with other universities in The Netherlands for several years. Maastricht joined in 2009, and we experienced a stellar interest for Entrepreneurship education among students of the University College Maastricht, the Business School, and several other study programmes at Maastricht University.

Many students indicated to welcome a similar initiative that would focus on Social Entrepreneurship. That is why we will offer TWO summer schools in 2010.

The first Summer School focusses on for-profit initiatives, the second Summer School focuses on initiatives that seek to have a social impact. By offering two Summer Schools we will be able to serve more students.

That fits our approach to new business venturing: one has to be willing to scale
